They kidnapped Grandma and me, and while we endured some terrifying moments, we were able to escape with minimum damage. Problem is, Shine and Salgusta still want the key to the treasure, and we saw them murder a man in cold blood while we were captive.
She was right about the gun, and she was right about us not being Bruce Willis. And as I see it, the only way to protect her is to track down Salgusta and Shine and get them behind bars.
I feel that Stephanie is finally realizing that she is at crossroads and she is about ready to make some serious decisions.
I am noticing some character growth and I will be happy to follow her further as she matures. View all 6 comments. Jenna Hmm.. Nicole I saw the first sentence of your review and went wait, am I reading my review?

Solving the mystery usually involves visiting different locations, lots of overwhelmingly crazy characters especially Grandma Mazur , and comical situations throughout the quest.
An independent, pretty girl, a couple of hunky guys — Moretti and Ranger - to team up with, and an adventure full of mystery and silly zaniness.
There is lots of teasing and innuendo between the Stephanie and the hunky guys as they work together, but in the end the mystery will be resolved whether on purpose or by accident within pages of reading.
The formula is the same, tried and true. Evanovich gets you to chuckle at least once every other page and laugh out loud at least once a chapter.
However, Evanovich has changed it up a bit by creating a multi-book arc. Gabriela Rose is a dark-haired beauty that is athletic, smart, able to defend herself, and has a strong taste for designer clothes.
In other words, the normal salad mix of crazy that comes with a Stephanie Plum adventure. What you ask? I shall do my best to explain why. The clues actually made sense when they were figured out, which was a pleasing touch.
In addition, the storyline was more fluid and smoother than normal. Usually, there are points along the way that actually bore me and I find myself distracted from the story.
That was not the case this time out. Evanovich even pulled off a successful multi-layered ending, which was another nice surprise. Things that disappointed: This is going to be a bit tougher to share, but let me give it my best shot.
However, after 27 outings with the same script, it cannot but eventually get old. Many, many times… The reality is that what made Stephanie Plum and her gang so enjoyable has just grown repetitive and old.
Anyone who reads these books knows that is so unlikely. Stephanie spends several books with Morelli and then about every three or four books she has hubba-hubba moments with Ranger.
Nothing changes. And I absolutely hate to say this — what was once creative, unique, and funny, as unfortunately become casual and old.
It seems like a rather large challenge at this moment. Overall, reading Stephanie Plum is a double-edged sword. The good news is you get what you expect.
The bad news is you get what you expect. Kathryn My feelings exactly on it getting repetitive and old. Stopped reading a couple books ago for this reason.

I hadn't read one of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books in nine years. Because the book flap teased readers saying, "She could finally be forced to choose between the two most important men in her life, Joe Morelli and Ranger", I was hopeful for Fortune and Glory, the twenty-seventh book in the series.
Spoiler alert - Stephane Plum is no better than Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swensen in making a decision about her personal life.
In fact, Plum's personal life seemed to be the pivotal point of this I hadn't read one of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books in nine years.
In fact, Plum's personal life seemed to be the pivotal point of this latest book. She's broken up with cop Joe Morelli, again, and she's trying to learn more about herself.
What does she want in life? One reason she and Morelli broke up is due to Stephanie's determination to help her Grandma Mazur Rosolli on a treasure hunt.
Her grandma's husband, mobster Jimmy Rosolli, died and left her his La-Z-Boy, which supposedly contained his key to a treasure he shared with five other mobsters.
Some are dead, and left behind their clues to the treasure hunt. But, two of the three surviving mobsters had already kidnapped Grandma and Stephanie, hoping to retrieve Grandma's keys and clue.
They escaped, but the two women are still determined to find that treasure. Who is Stephanie Plum? Is she a New Jersey bounty hunter who gets by on luck and determination?
Or, is she Indiana Jones, an adventurer? She doesn't know who she is. It's sad that one of the men who skipped out on his bond, Potts, a crazy hypochondriac, seems to have the greatest insight into Stephanie's character.
Stephanie Plum hasn't changed much in nine years. She still destroys cars in the course of her investigations. She still hasn't decided if she loves Joe or wants to sleep with Ranger.
Her adventures with ex-hooker Lulu are as outrageous as ever. The current treasure hunt takes Stephanie, Lulu, and Grandma Mazur Rosolli into tunnels and car accidents.
And, it was enjoyable, but there really hasn't been much change in Stephanie's life. There was an addition to this book as Stephanie questions why a woman named Gabriela seems to be one step ahead of her in tunnels and the search for mobsters.
Sometimes, Gabriela just seems to be one step behind, following her. It turns out Gabriela is the protagonist of a new Janet Evanovich series.
My final opinion? It really only disappoints those of us who want a little personal growth and a romantic decision from the character. Nov 09, Tina rated it it was amazing Shelves: audiobooks , library-books , series , libby , cozy-mystery , read-in I love the Plum series.
I have misses Ranger in the last a couple of books before this one, and I am so happy Ranger is back in this book.
I love the Grandma Mazur character. I found this book so funny and great. The characters like always is so good, and I love Janet's writing style.

I don't know about you, but I flip flop back and forth between Team Joe and Team Ranger like an overcooked pancake. It's part of the fun, right?

And Stephanie is still a hapless bounty hunter with plenty of tenacity and a ton of good luck. Even a professional treasure hunter gives her some props.
Janet Evanovich is at the top of her game on this one, in my opinion. I had the good fortune of meeting her at an author event sponsored by my local library last year.
Hearing her discuss her books has given my appreciation for the series a boost. Looking forward to seeing how the mysterious Gabriela Rose is developed in the final book of the trilogy and Oct 27, Judy D Collins rated it it was amazing Shelves: q-a-with-author , releases , netgalley-arc , janet-evanovich , stephanie-plum-series , books-read-in Tantalizing 27!

I heard the scuff of shoes and muffled speech. I banged on the door and yelled for help. The trapdoor was wrenched open and a young guy in a black Mole Hole T-shirt looked down at me.
